The Town of Milton has a strategic plan called Destiny Milton 2 (DM2) that provides a vision, a set of goals and directions to guide municipal decision-making for the next ten years. In order to implement DM2, a number of department service master plans are to be completed throughout 2007 and 2008. The intent of these department service master plans is to identify how services are to be provided based on the context established by Destiny Milton 2.
The purpose of the department service master plan is to develop a practical strategy that is based on a clear understanding of the Town's growth and resource limitations. The department service master plans will ensure that the Town continues to provide right services in the right way and right time, at the right cost.

The Fire Department Service Master Plan will be used as a long range planning tool to guide annual department priorities and objectives that will rationalize the recommendations made in the Destiny Milton 2 Strategic Plan.
To prioritize the goals and objectives for implementation identified in the department service master plan, a template was developed by the Senior Management Team. The attached link is the Departmental Implementation Program, that will compliment the Service Master Plan. This program will be reviewed on an annual basis to plan and prepare for the department's goals, human resources, budgets and performance planning.
Fire Department Implementation Plan
In order to address the “Fire Department Response Coverage” portion of the Fire Department Service Master Plan, staff will require authorization to revise and deviate from plans outlined in a Fire Station Location Study referenced in report FIRE-02-04. The attached is the 2008 Proposed Station Location recommendations which are conducive to the recommendations set forth in Appendices “A” and “B”.
Fire Department Station Relocation Recommendation
The Fire Department Service Master plan will provide the basis for the Town moving forward in the implementation of Destiny Milton 2. The priorities identified within the Implementation Plan will provide Council with an overall framework to consider strategic decisions relating to budgeting, capital works, programming, service levels and human resources.
